The money that we were able to invest in 2018 in order help children through the art of music to lead a life of dignity and give them the opportunity to grow through their musical education, is visible in collective projects, that change our lives and our society.
For the last 18 years, the Brass has done everything possible to offer youngsters and adolescents, especially the most underprivileged ones, a chance to develop their musical potential.
The Brass is constantly aiming at positively affecting the lives of all of its members.

IMPACT OF OUR WORK
Following the request of 12 families we have offered full scholarships. We taught 97 students in 2343 hours of music and helped with more than 420 hours of language instruction. Further, we have also lent 11 musical instruments and other major accomplishments.
We would like to share with you what we experienced in 2018 …
JANUARY – OUR DAILY WORK WITH
The reason why our project exists is to give children and teenagers a musical education. This is made possible thanks the contributions of our teachers and volunteers.
We offer classes in audio perception, musical theory, classical and jazz harmony, and instrumental technique for trumpet, cornet, french horn, trombone, baritone, euphonium, tuba, percussion, piano, guitar, and violin.
FEBRUARY – ORCHESTRAL PRACTICE – CHAMBER AND ENSEMBLE REHEARSALS
Taking maximum advantage of the given space, we have been able to provide Brass Bands A and B, as well as the ensembles, chamber groups, and even the children’s choir with room for their rehearsals.
MARCH – DONATIONS RECEIVED
Thanks to Swing Kids and their teacher, Mr. Dai., we received musical instruments as a donation, that can be seen in the photo.
APRIL – VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Thanks to our volunteering program we have directly received volunteers and volunteers of EIL Ecuador – the Experiment in International Living -, with whom we have successfully been working together for the past ten years.
Anna Beyer: 23 years old, German, for ten months, helping with French Horn and translation.
Franka Exner: 18 years old, German, for six months, helping with English and translations.
Emma Brieden: 18 years old, German, for ten months, helping with violin, German and translations.
Louise Alberti: 18 years old, Swiss, for six months, helped with translation and international communications.
MAY –RENOVATION
Our main objective continues to be the reconstruction of our main facility in order to make space for the rehearsals of the orchestra with more than 30 musicians. As such, this will remain a major part of our fundraising efforts in 2019.
Value for the renovation: $ 75.840
We have: $15.906
We need: $59.934
At the same time, we have begun work in the building where the music theory classes are held. The interior spaces need renovation from roof to floor. This is a project currently underway and right now we can use one of the four classrooms.
Amount we need: $35.000
JUNE – OUR HEADQUARTERS
We have a very large and comfortable outdoor area where our students can play and enjoy happy times with their classmates.
JUNE AND AUGUST – INTERNATIONAL TOUR
Every summer we take six of our most outstanding students to go on a tour to Switzerland, Germany, and Austria to give concerts to raise money, which enables us to maintain our musical project in Ecuador.

SEPTEMBER – FRIENDS VISITING THE BRASS
Just as we visit Europe, we always hope that our friends will visit our country so the exchange can go both ways.
In conjunction with BB Reisen, we offer touristic services which allow people to visit one or more of the precious regions of Ecuador: The Coast, the Andean Sierra, the Rainforest, or the Galapagos. Using our services, you will receive an excellent price, and rather than paying a travel agency, it allows us to gain some money which we use to pay for class hours for our students and to offer scholarships to study in Ecuador and abroad.
OCTOBER – FUN – ENTERTAINMENT – BIRTHDAY
Disciplined and constant study is not everything! There is also a part of the Brass dedicated to recreation and amusement.
As such, we celebrate achievements, birthdays, and special dates in the lives of each of our members.
NOVEMBER – INTERNATIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS
After a long journey of spending a year studying in Norway, our student, Rommel Guasumba was accepted to the Hochschule Franz Liszt of Weimar in Germany. We are thrilled for him and wish him the best in his professional life.
We believe we have fulfilled our goal of helping him become a great musician by having provided him with a qualitatively demanding schooling.
DECEMBER – CHRISTMAS CONCERT
It is a concert that as well the city of Quito is very much looking forward to as our friends and contacts, and that every year meets even greater reception.
